Worldwide Grand Bible Exposition!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Mon Ano Salvation comes from God, whom the Bible calls as the Living God and Savior. God is employing a human being in order for His will to be fulfilled … and that is the salvation of man. Our Lord Jesus Christ will bring two kinds of salvation, through the Bible. At the time He assumed human form, He saved Israel from its sinfulness. That is written in Matthew 1:21, which says- “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” However, when He comes again, for the second time, He will bring salvation to the faithful. And, the Bible is teaching us how we can become one among those people that our Lord Jesus Christ will save come judgment day. The first verse that we have to pay attention to is Ephesians 3:6, which says- “That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the Gospel.” St. Paul, the Apostle, said, “The Gentiles should be fellow heirs.” But before we continue analyzing this verse, let us find out from the Bible: who are called “Gentiles” and why are they also called “heirs?” In Ephesians 2:11-12, this is what is written– “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.” In those lines, St. Paul reminds the Christians in Ephesus of their former conditions. According to the Bible, during those times, “they were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel.” Therefore, Biblically speaking, the Gentiles are those who were apart from Christ. They were “strangers from the covenants of promise,” … they were the hopeless, and they were without a God in the world because they were not part of Israel. And we, who live at the present time, may also be called Gentiles if we will use the Bible as our basis. According to St. Paul, for the Gentiles to be a part of the salvation that comes from our Lord Jesus Christ, they have to be made parts first of the body; and only after that will they become partakers of a promise in Christ by the Gospel. You will notice that St. Paul made reference to a “body” … a body into which the Gentiles must integrate themselves so that they also become heirs. The explanation to that may be read in Colossians 1:18- “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first born from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” Therefore, the body whose head is Christ is the CHURCH. At this point, we must understand that the Gentiles, like us, must join the body, or the Church. And when we say that we must join the Church, it means that we no longer have to build any. We no longer have to establish our own church just for us to become partakers of a promise in Christ. And whenever we say “join,” or be a part of the body, of the Church, it denotes that, there is already an existing Church. In fact, this Church already exists even before the promise of salvation was given to the Gentiles. There is an existing Church even before Paul was made apostle. And this was the same Church that our Lord Jesus Christ taught, when he assumed human form. … And there can never be another church. Today, there are preachers who claim that another church had appeared in the Philippines. And according to them, this church was different from the one in Israel. If this is the case, it would appear that, despite the fact that there was already a church in Israel, another church appeared in the Philippines. As far as the Bible is concerned, such a belief is wrong because, according to St. Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians, in 4:4- “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.” There is just one body … there is no other body. And the proof that there is only one body can be read in Colossians 3:15- “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which ye are called in one body; and ye be thankful.” Here, St. Paul is addressing the brethren who, in the beginning were Gentiles, but were eventually called to one body. In other words, the body that the early Christians (the Israelites) made themselves a part of, is also the same body, or church, into which the Gentiles were being called upon to join. Now, if the Gentiles will just integrate themselves to the body, then, the Church will remain ONE. It is against the teachings of God, and of the Holy Scripture, that other churches is built in other places, let’s say in the US, or in England, or in Germany, or in Rome. They also claim that another church had also been founded in the Philippines. The truth is, God did not give any right to anybody to build his own church. It is indeed disgusting that today, a lot of ministers build churches of their own. They deliberately oppose and defy what the Bible said - that, the Gentiles, like us, must join or make ourselves a part of the body, or the Church, for us to be saved. And what is the reason why we must abide by it? It is because, as far as God is concerned, He did not give anybody His consent to build a church right now in our time. This is what Psalms 127:1 says- “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that built it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” The verse mentioned of a “house,” which becomes useless if it is not built by the Lord. Let us now ask the Bible. What is being referred to as the “house,” which only God has the right to build? In I Timothy 3:15, it says- “But if I tarry long , that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” If you have noticed, in the New Testament, the word house refers to the Church of God. This is, truly, the house of God because it was built by God, Himself. That is why, if, in our time, you come across churches, whose founders are also their ministers, you can be sure that they are NOT REAL! How to Make Quilted Silver Beads

Monday, August 27th, 2007

By Zia Gusti After making the leaf bead, I was impressed with the detail made possible by the metal clay. Therefore, I decided to use the same technique but create a different look. When I finished making these beads, I thought they looked as though they had been “quilted.” Before firing, each bead weighed about 5.43 grams. After firing, they are about 3.8 grams each. The size and weight of your beads may depend on how large you make them and the size of the straw that you use for creating the holes in the beads. To make these beads, youll need: 6 playing cards a small ball of PMC (about 6 grams) roller olive oil ruler paint brush fine sand paper or emery board *a small piece of mesh cloth a clean surface to work on Exacto knife 2 inch piece of plastic straw kiln vermiculite jewelers file or emery board *This mesh material should be easy to find at most fabric stores because they usually carry a variety of trims and laces. If youve ever sewn, you might even have a bag of scraps around that some interesting textures to try. 1. Divide your playing cards into two stacks with three cards in each stack and set them on your work surface with a few inches between each stack. 2. Place your ball of clay in between the stacks. 3. Rub some olive oil on your roller. 4. You should have some oil on your hands now, so take the piece of cloth in between your hands and get it a little oily. It doesnt need much oil, but this will help keep it from sticking to your clay. 5. Roll out the clay. 6. Now place your mesh cloth over the flat clay. 7. Roll out the clay again so that the mesh cloth is pressed into the clay, and pull off the cloth. 8. Now use the knife to cut out a square of clay that measures approximately 1 inch wide and 1 inch long. Make sure to cut the piece so that all the little squares created by the mesh are even. 9. Take the clay piece and warp it around your straw. I had a little extra clay in my length, so after wrapping it around the straw, I cut off the excess. 10. You want to seal both ends of the clay that are wrapped around the straw together. I used the end of a small paint brush to push the clay together. Be very careful when you do this so that you dont mess up the design on your clay. 11. To ensure that one side of the bead isnt flat, either set the straw up right in a bowl of vermiculite so that the clay is able to dry, or you can position the straw over a small jar. 12. Once the clay is dry, you may need to use fine sand paper or an emery board to file the ends of the bead so that they are even. 13. Fire your beads in a kiln at 1650 degrees F or 900 degrees C for two hours. During the firing process, be careful of the fumes from the plastic straw that will burn out. These are toxic! Do not breath in these toxic fumes! 14. Finish your beads by polishing them. These quilted beads just show one way to use this technique. So, look around your house for some interesting textures you can roll into your metal clay. Hair Dryers: 7 Ways To Avoid Damaging Your Hair

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Mike Jones Do you use a hair dryer regularly or even on a daily basis? Be sure to observe the following precautions and avoid doing damage to your hair that can take weeks to repair. 1. Don’t hold the hair dryer in one position for more than a few seconds. Rotate or circulate the hair dryer over your hair. (Make sure you choose a hair dryer with a decent length cord to allow you to do this.) Alternatively, keep moving your hair instead of the hair dryer. 2. Don’t hold the nozzle too close to the scalp to avoid burning or damaging the skin. 3. Don’t blow dry wet hair. Wet hair is fragile. Make sure you blot or dab your hair dry with a towel first. Alternatively, wrap your hair in the towel for at least 5 minutes. 4. Don’t start blow drying with a brush. Rather, use your fingers initially to get most of the moisture out of the hair before using a styling brush. 5. Don’t use a hair dryer that is less than 1500 watts. Hair dryers with lower wattage take too long to dry the hair thus increasing the risk of damage. 6. Don’t blow dry un-treated, un-protected hair. Use a heat-defence styling product or leave-in conditioner that gives a protective coating to the hair and avoids heat damage. 7. Don’t relegate your hair dryer attachments to a box at the bottom of the cupboard. Get to know the attachments and how to use them. For example, use the nozzle to concentrate air to the specific areas of your hair that need extra curl or life. Use the diffuser attachment to spread the air over a large area. Extra tip: Don’t wrap the tip of your hair round the brush. Start from the half way mark slowly and gently turning the brush so the hair naturally wraps around. Starting at the tip will only produce fuzzy or frizzy ends. Finishing tip: When your hair is completely dry, tilt your head forward and let the hair hang as you blast it with the hair dryer on the cold setting. The cold air will seal the style and help avoid static. Note: Ionic and Tourmaline hair dryers are now available which promise better results. As they produce negatively charged ions they dry the hair faster thus reducing drying time and potential heat damage. Additionally, they leave hair shiny, smooth, and sleek. ‘New’ Judas Story Just Revisionist Fluff

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

By Tad Cronn Attention, conspiracy theorists: We are happy to announce the next New York Times best seller, “The Gospel of Judas.” Soon to be a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks — wait, scratch that last part; that was “The DaVinci Code.” A recently translated codex that scholars purport to be the long-lost “Gospel of Judas” is supposedly shaking up traditional views of Christianity by depicting Judas as Jesus’ best friend and a bearer of “secret knowledge” who was only following Jesus’ orders when he sold out to the Pharisees. “Judas the hero” is the headline of the day on TV, radio, Web sites and newspapers. From all the media hoopla, you’d think clergy across the land were shrugging their shoulders in futility and shutting the church doors, never to sermonize again. It’s the same sort of glee with which the media trumpeted the success of “The DaVinci Code” and with which they tout any discoveries that “challenge” traditional Christianity. The appropriate response from Christians should be a collective yawn. The relationship of “The Gospel of Judas” to the facts of Jesus’ life is akin to the relationship of the pop song “Rock Me, Amadeus” to classical music. The earliest mention of a “Gospel of Judas” comes from St. Irenaeus, circa 180 A.D., in “Adversus Haeresis” (Against Heresy). Irenaeus refers to a Gnostic sect calling itself Cainites. In their gospel, according to Irenaeus, Judas was portrayed as a man who knew secret lore about Cain and other “truths” that led him to betray Jesus. The recently translated manuscript is the only known copy of “The Gospel of Judas.” It surfaced sometime in the 1990s and has been carbon dated back to the third or fourth centuries. The translation of the manuscript portrays Judas as following Jesus’ orders when he went to the temple and sold out the Messiah. Part of the translation says of Judas in relation to the other disciples: “But you will exceed all of them. For you will sacrifice the man that clothes me.” So, far from betrayer, Judas is the enabler, even a hero. Holy plot twist! Actually, it’s just typical Gnostic fluff, but this story has legs for the same reason “The DaVinci Code” became a best seller. Both are suited perfectly to take advantage of the public’s ignorance of history. There are plenty of Gnostic so-called “gospels” floating around, most of them claiming to relate the “real story” about some aspect of Jesus’ life that was overlooked by the accepted Gospels and apostolic writings. This was the inspiration for “The DaVinci Code” and the book “Holy Blood, Holy Grail” years before it. According to Bible revisionists, these widely accepted gospels were excised from the Bible by closed-minded men at the Council of Nicaea who forced people to accept the radical notion that Jesus was divine. Reality check: The Council of Nicaea dealt with the issue of Arianism, which denied that Jesus and the Father were equal. Of the 250-300 bishops present, only a few opposed the Nicene Creed as it was formulated. Their opposition was to the use of wording that was not in the Bible, though not to the ideas expressed in the creed. The supposed “new idea” of Jesus as divine had already been accepted doctrine since the first century. By the way, the other burning issue at this gathering of supposed radicals? When to celebrate Easter. No editing. No burning of heretics. No suppression of ideas. The bishops merely expressed very succinctly what had always been Christian canon. The simple fact is that Gnostic groups were never as widely popular as revisionists would have us believe. They weren’t even a cohesive movement, but just a variety of cultic groups who held several general views in common, among them that creation itself is flawed and evil; the body is a hindrance, a mere vessel for the more-important spirit; women especially are corrupt; and one can only be saved by “secret” knowledge which — big surprise — the cult was the keeper of. Such groups existed before Jesus’ time, and when Christianity began to grow, cult leaders must have realized a bonanza when they saw it. Previously, the cults’ “mysteries” were linked to various mythological characters and pantheons. The opportunity to link them to a historical figure whose actions had taken on legendary proportions must have been seen as highly lucrative. These Gnostic cults were elitist, and their members took a dim view of the rapidly spreading Christianity. The pagan philosopher Celsus complained that Christians did not demand virtue and wisdom as prerequisites for salvation, whereas the mystery cults preserved their knowledge for the elect. Naturally, the more money a potential initiate spread around, the greater his “virtue.” “The Gospel of Judas” is no different. Written very late to be considered in any way authoritative, it also faces the unique difficulty that its supposed source, Judas, killed himself. I suppose that Judas conceivably could have thrown the 30 silver coins back in Caiaphas’ face, stopped off for coffee, and written down or related the “real” events of the previous week before going off to hang himself, but I find myself strangely skeptical on this point. But loose facts and logic never stopped a good story. Maybe Tom Hanks will be available for this movie, too: “Life is like a box of bad chocolates. You never know when one will turn on you.” Tad Cronn is an author and editor from West Hills, Calif. For more of his works, see his Web site, http://www.the-free-lance.com. About Islam; Do Non-Muslims Go To Heaven?

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

By Kris A. O. I have seen this question before from many people; “You don’t think any one other than a Muslim will go to heaven, right? I see the Muslim clerics telling their people to kill the non-Muslims; we Christians are the infidels according to them!” And it’s true, we have all seen this. Indeed, it is a shocking statement which deserves a second look. After all, these leaders are representing a whole religion when they make these statements in the name of Islam. We need to discern the extent of the truth behind this claim. We can look to the Quran, God’s final and proven scripture, to see how the non-Muslims are addressed. Does God tell us that they may experience the final peaceful and joyous abode of heaven, or are they truly all destined for a miserable, bitter end? Upon referencing the English Quran translation by Rashad Khalifa, we can clearly see the truth. Yes, God does assure us that there are believers destined for heaven in all different groups. We find that the words Islam and Muslim are more than just a name. They are a description of performing total devotion to God alone. The equivalent English word for Islam is Submission, which is practiced by a Submitter to God alone [1]. There are submitters who are Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, or from other backgrounds. All submitters who are devoted to God alone without setting up any idols are redeemed by God [2]. Thus, Gods scripture, the Quran, tells us that His devoted worshippers, no matter what they call themselves, will go to heaven. Relevant Quran Verses: [1] 2:207-208, 3:19, 10:28-29; [2] 2:62, 5:69, 3:84-85. Kris A. O. works for Abe’s column. 5 Real Health Questions and Answers - Issue 2

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

By Ryan Bombard –> Question 1: The joints of my body and those of my elderly parents are not functioning very well, what about hyaluronic acid? –> Answer 1: Hyaluronic acid is a fairly recent phenomenon in the health industry. It is boasted as a successful therapy for joint and skin problems mainly. However there are not many studies to show that hyaluronic acid (taken orally) is effective in easing joint pain or increasing joint movability. There have been some studies done where hyaluronic acid was injected into the knees of patients. In some of these studies the results were positive, while in others, patients showed no results at all. With that said, many people claim that hyaluronic has had positive results on there joint pain or arthritis. The best way to find out is to try it for yourself. Keep in mind however that no long term studies have been conducted on hyaluronic acid taken orally - so we don’t know for sure if it is completely safe or not. Occasionally people using hyaluronic acid have reported breaking out in a skin rash. With all the above in mind, I would suggest taking a joint supplement that includes hyaluronic acid, as well as more trusted and proven supplements, mainly glucosamine, and chondroitin sulfates, MSM, sea cucumber and grape seed extract. If you want a supplement that includes all of these I recommend Joint Power RX. –> Question 2: Clogged arteries I know that good cholesterol i.e. olive oil, helps to reduce clogged arteries, however, I see commercials where platelets form along the walls of the arteries in small clumps and if broken loose result in a blood clot, often causing a heart attack or stroke. Am I correct, in that, clogged arteries (the thick build-up on the artery walls) and platelets (in clumps in an artery wall) are two different things? Is there anything natural that can eliminate these platelets if they are different from clogged arteries? I have yet to find an answer anywhere. –> Answer 2: Platelets do indeed build up on the artery walls, and this was confirmed in a 2002 study. This platelet build up is in fact different from what we usually refer to as “clogged arteries” or high cholesterol. The platelets, normally responsible for blood clotting, get activated in the bloodstream and become sticky. Once this happens they are likely to form clumps on artery walls. A healthy lifestyle in general will go a long way to prevent any arterial disease. With that said, there are a few vitamins, supplements, and herbs that will also help prevent the risk of platelet and cholesterol build up, in turn lowering the risk of heart attack and strokes. Here’s a brief list of helpful vitamins and herbs: -Garlic -Ginseng -Three cups of gingko biloba tea can help counter any inflammation and prevent “hardening of the arteries” (oxidized cholesterol and platelet build up).-Hawthorn berry (very efficient in lowering blood pressure safely). -Spices such as ginger, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, cloves help dilate arteries and increase blood and oxygen flow.-Antioxidant fruits or superfoods high in antioxidants. -Vitamin E (400 IU daily) has been shown to have dramatic effects on reducing the risk of heart attacks by up to 77% -EFA’s (essential fatty acids) Omega-3 and Omega-6 are also important for healthy arteries. -Grapeseed extract and Bromelain (pineapple derived enzyme) can also lower the risk of arterial disease. Other then that, sauna therapy will help increase blood flow and reduce the chance of blood clotting as well as help to remove toxins in the body. Exercise will do the same, to a lesser extent. –> Question 3: how can I chart my daily meals and snacks. Are there any sites that have charts were you can monitor your daily intake of foods? –> Answer 3: There are many sites that allow you to do this, some free and some paid. However, I find many of the sites lack the features necessary to make it worthwhile. The best free food diary/tracker is probably http://www.startyourdiet.com The best paid food diary/tracker is, in my opinion, http://www.myfooddiary.com which costs $9 per month. If you can afford the $9 a month, definitely go with http://www.myfooddiary.com as it has alot more options and is much easier to use and manage than http://www.startyourdiet.com –> Question 4: How can i stay away from sweets when i have a really big sweet tooth.. its not all that easy? –> Answer 4: First of all you have to realise that you have a sugar and carbohydrate addiction. Carb addictions are actually quite common in this day and age, and must be treated like any other addiction. The first step in beating any addiction is admitting to yourself that you have one. From there, you must lay out a logical step-by-step plan to beat your addiction to sweet (high carb) foods. The reason you have a sugar addiction in the first place is because you eat too much sugar. When you eat sugar your body tends to overproduce insulin. This excess insulin causes your blood sugar to drop. Your body then craves more sugar in order to raise your blood sugar level back to normal. You find yourself caught in a vicious circle. The only way out of this never-ending sugar addiction circle is to break stride - that means eliminating sugar from your diet, or at least cutting down on it dramatically. The less you eat, the less you will crave. Now as you said, it’s not all that easy. Well, to make it easier, you must replace the bad refined sugars with something else. Some good natural sugars are fruits (low sugar fruits such as kiwis are best), unpasteurized honey, and stevia (very sweet, no calories, no aspartame). Your first step in cutting down sugars should be to stop drinking any soda pops and fruit juices. Both pop and fruit juices are loaded with sugars - usually refined (bad) sugars. Beating a sugar addiction is akin to quitting smoking (which I myself went through not long ago). Just remind yourself of why you want to cut sweets out of your diet, and use that as your motivation. Sugar cravings generally only last from 5-10 mins, so take each craving one at a time. The longer you go without sugar, the less you’ll crave it, and the closer you’ll be to no longer craving sweets at all! –> Question 5: Which food is good for health? –> Answer 5: This article is getting long, so I’ll try and keep this one short. Generally speaking any food that is organic is “good” for your health. However, good is a relative term. Some organic foods, such as fruits and vegetables are healthier for you, then say organic bread. When it comes to eating healthy, moderation is key. Too much of anything is not good for the body. A healthy diet should consist of plenty of fiber, protien, essential vitamins and nutrients, fresh fruits and vegetables (washed and peeled), organic chicken and fish, organic free range eggs, and plenty of unroasted, unsalted nuts and seeds. Many people think dairy is necessary for a healthy diet, I tend to disagree with this, but I’ll keep that issue in wraps for another day. Wedding Favors for Destination Weddings

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

By Fernando Bellingham When focusing on your wedding, it is important to remember that favors are a crucial part. Here is a quick guide to wedding favors for destination ceremonies. Destination weddings are becoming some of the most popular weddings held throughout the world today. A destination wedding is simply one where the ceremony is held a significant distance from your home town, such as on an island. Fully 20 percent of weddings performed in the last few years were considered destination weddings, as they did not take place in either the bride or groom’s hometown. Traveling to get married allows a couple to really express their tastes and have a wedding that allows all of their guests to have fun at their ceremony. Of course, planning a destination wedding still requires that a couple plans out all of the typical parts of a wedding, including favors. Wedding favors are usually taken care of by the bride, but nowadays more and more grooms are taking an active role in the planning of wedding ceremonies and receptions, including favors. Favors have the potential to be much more interesting and theme related than average wedding favors, but giving favors at a destination wedding also poses some challenges. It can be harder to choose favors for a wedding that will take place far away or in a different country because of the fact that they have to be shipped to the wedding location. If you have a wedding planner at your wedding destination, he or she can help you to choose wedding favors that go well with your location. The wedding planner can even purchase wedding favors at the destination, or receive favors that you send there ahead of time. One popular type of favor, candy or chocolate, may not be the best choice because shipping them to other countries can involve difficulties in customs and other areas. Choosing favors can be fun if you select a favor that goes with your wedding theme. Place card holders in the shape of beach animals, luggage tags and airplane or ship shaped trinkets all make perfect gifts for guests who come to your Caribbean or cruise wedding. Travel size items, such as travel candles, lotions and soaps can also be useful and thoughtful favors. Making up a basket of items that traveling wedding guests will need, such as sunscreen, soap, lotion, aloe vera gel and sunglasses, can be a great idea for wedding guests that are coming to your wedding expecting fun in the sun. Other destinations can call for other types of wedding favors; for example, a wedding held in a winter setting can inspire such favors as hot chocolate mix and mittens. Taking the time to plan the favors that you’re going to give your guests is a gracious way to thank them for coming to your special day.
