When the Bank Says NO!

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Cassandra_Ingraham]Cassandra Ingraham Factoring has been practiced for centuries. The Romans sold promissory notes at a discount as did the Phoenicians. The word “factor” comes from Latin, the language of Rome. It means “to do” or “to make.” The Pilgrim’s journeys to America were financed by advances from a Factor who provided the funds to pay for the journey. The Pilgrims repaid the money with earnings from America. Factoring to this day is an extremely common business practice in Europe whereas many American business men have never heard of it. Factoring is the selling of your accounts receivable for cash versus waiting 30-60 or 90 days to be paid by your customer. When you provide a Factoring company with copies of your invoices, the Factoring Company uses your invoices to make a loan to your company. It is a simple process and can be automated after the first transaction. Credit is not an issue when providing Accounts Receivable Loans or Financing. The Financial Companies looks at the credit history of the vendor not yours! This is exceptional good for small to medium size business that have been in business for less then two years. My first experience with Factoring came when one of my Tax clients ending up with a sizable Tax liability one year. He ran a small Trucking company and had very few tax problems in the pass. However, because of a sudden burst in growth he was doing 2 to 3 times more business in the last half of the year. Because he did not have sufficient tax write offs, his tax liability really hit hard. He was actually having serious cash flow problems because of unplanned growth! We talked about the situation, his taxes were completed and because he had rented a couple of trucks to keep up with the work load, we were able to use the rental cost as a write off. But there was still the self-employment tax and there was no doubt he had an increase in business income. I didnt say anything, but I was worried about his payment for the Tax preparation. I knew he was having cash flow problems and the tax bill did not help. Then he told me about the $30,000 worth of Invoices. Because the invoices had not been paid they were not included in his income for that year so I had no idea that he had invoices in that amount. In fact the invoices where crumbles up and scattered over his desk. I went on the Internet and started to research invoices. I had never really understood Factoring before that time, but I had heard of it. We did not factor my clients Invoices because he called the company he worked with, explained the situation and they paid him 50% of the Invoice immediately and the balance shortly after. I had already researched Factoring or Accounts Receivable Financing and being a Tax person I was always looking for ways to help my clients pay their taxes as soon as possible, especially if they owed employee taxes. I put an ad online and within days a CPA called. He had a client who imported culinary products from overseas. They needed to factor a fairly large invoice. I called one of the Factoring Companies explained the situation. The Factoring Company arranged for his company to do a Purchase Order from his supplier overseas. Once the Purchase Order was in place, we factored the Invoice. The client received over 90% of the Invoice amount within days. He then went on to repeat the deal 3 or 4 more times! Purchase Order Funding is slightly harder to get then Accounts Receivable Financing, however, PO Funding is very helpful for Business who makes large purchases and resells to a third party. Should You Take an Online Degree?

Friday, October 19th, 2007

By Roger Overanout Now that there are a large range of subjects available, an online degree has something that is suitable for everybody. To discover which online degree is right for you, first you should be definite concerning your career objectives. For example, if you want to start your own small business, then a degree in marketing will be your ideal bet. Someone else may use an online degree in order to help them change careers. Usually all you need to be able to enroll is a high school diploma or G.E.D and a desire to learn. Depending on your previous college grades and work record, you may be able to receive your degree in a relatively short time. Before selecting a university which you are interested in, be sure that they are fully accredited and the staff has an extensive understanding of the subject which you are interested in. Once you have decided to enroll, getting started is easy, many colleges provide year round enrollment, this means you can start on your course immediately, you have signed up. The course work will be available for download over the internet as soon as you want to, so that you can start as soon as you wish. What are the advantages you will get by doing an Online Degree? Normally an online degree course takes four years to complete, the biggest benefit of an online degree is the potential to finish the degree in less time. It is not unusual for students to complete their degree in less than three years. Any previous college credits can be taken into consideration also pertinent work history will be take into consideration, this could reduce the time even more you might even complete your degree in as little as six months. The next important benefit of an online degree is that the course work is extremely flexible, the work can be done at any time throughout the day and you never have to leave your house. Any course work is carried out via the Internet both by lessons you download or via virtual class work. These courses do require hard work, on average an online degree program will require a minimum of twenty hours of class work per week, but because the course is completed online, you can work at your own pace, depending on your schedule, always provided the course is completed within the allowed time. Generally the standard time frame allowed for the class work of an online degree is one class every five weeks. This schedule allows you to concentrate completely on one class or module at a time letting you learn all of the information presented in that lesson. This is better than traditional four year colleges because with an online program you can devote your time to each session without being sidetracked by other classes and information. Tuition payment is also easier with an online course.Online degree programs usually qualify for the same tuition aide that on-site courses do, so you are able to apply for student loans, payment plans and employer payment programs. Furthermore, some online colleges will let you to pay as you learn, this helps with initial college costs. Studying on line for a degree is a great way for those of us that are working full time to further their careers. When studying online, you can keep your job and still obtain a degree in a reasonable time, online degrees are also the perfect choice for anybody that must work full time to pay for the cost of their education. If you are thinking of going for a degree, then an online degree program is with out a doubt worth checking out. By deciding on an accredited online degree course as against a regular degree program, you are still getting a degree of especially high standard, that you can work for at home in a flexible manner. Marketing Resolutions for the New Year

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

By Cathy Stucker It’s that time again, when we make our New Year’s resolutions. Maybe this is the year you plan to get organized, stop smoking, or finally lose those extra pounds you’ve been carrying around. Of course, many people make ambitious resolutions every year, and then fail to follow through. Here is how you can make resolutions to create positive marketing habits, and make those habits stick. Choose just a few things to do–or even one. The more things you try to do at once, the greater that chance that you won’t keep to your resolutions. Choose one, two or three things you will do this year. Make your resolutions “do-able.” They should be ambitious, but not overwhelming. Do-able resolutions might include sending one press release a month, joining a professional association and attending at least 80% of the meetings, writing one new article each month and submitting the articles to newsletters and article banks, setting at least three sales appointments each week, following up with ten customers each month, etc. Your resolutions must be specific. Note the examples above. Not, “Make more sales appointments,” but a specific number. Write them down. When you put them in writing, the resolutions become real. Post your resolutions above your desk or anywhere you will see them often. Make a plan. How will you work these actions into your schedule? Put them on your calendar and treat them as important appointments. Put the meeting dates for your association on your calendar now, before it starts to fill with other obligations. Choose a day each week or month when you will do what you have resolved to do. Reward yourself. Promise yourself something you enjoy when you keep your resolutions. Don’t wait until the end of the year. It’s March and you’ve sent press releases every month so far? Get a massage, go see that movie you want to see, or buy yourself a little treat–and pat yourself on the back. Enjoy your success. If you are in the habit of marketing on a regular basis, you will start seeing results. Remember that marketing has a cumulative effect, so expect that even if you don’t see huge jumps in business right away, you will start to see results and those results will snowball over time. Feel free to revise your resolutions. If something isn’t working, stop doing it and start doing something else. But when you see successes, you may be inspired to increase your efforts and do even more of what is working. Copyright Cathy Stucker. 10 Steps on Improving Your Metabolism

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

By Karen Sessions Feeling sluggish and low on energy? Do you feel like you work and work toward your weight loss goal and never seem to make any dramatic improvement? You could be suffering from a slow metabolism. This does not have to destroy your weight loss efforts. You can dramatically improve your metabolism and boost energy without taking supplements. Your metabolism simply refers to the conversion of food to usable energy by the body. It is the biological process by which energy is extracted from food or how fast or slowly the body burns calories. A few steps you can take to improve your metabolism naturally are: 1. Drink Cold Water Water is great to drink and you should be drinking a minimum of 8 to 10, glasses daily, of course, more is better. It will help increase your metabolism and remove toxins and fat. Drinking ice cold water before meals will shrink your stomach so you feel full quicker, and the cold water also helps to increase the metabolism. 2. Eat Every Three Hours Eat a small balanced meal every three hours, including snacks. Meals and snacks should be balance, meaning they should contain a complete protein, carbohydrates, as well as natural fat. Failure to eat consistently can lead to a slower metabolism and fat storage. Skipping meals slows down your metabolism. To ignite weight loss you need to be consuming the right foods throughout the day in a balanced manner. 3. Don’t Skip Breakfast Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it gets your metabolism running in high gear. You wouldn’t drive to work on an empty tank and you shouldn’t start your day without adequate nourishment. Your first meal sets your metabolism for the day and keeps it going as long as you eat every three hours. If you get up early and eat a late breakfast, you missed out on several hours of burning calories. 4. Don’t Fear Fat Fat has a bad rep. Many think fat makes you fat. This is false. The type of fat and how much fat you eat impact your body fat composition. Fat is needed by the body. Those who follow a very low-fat diet have a harder time ridding their body of fat. Choose natural healthy fats such as olive oil, avocados, various nuts, flax, and natural peanut butter. 5. Omit Trans Fat Trans fat is the bad fat, the cause of weight gain, low energy, depression, cancer, and heart disease. You will never get the body you desire by eating “healthy” fast food, frozen dinners, etc. If it’s man-made, it’s not the best choice. Go with the foods Mother Nature provided to meet your fat loss goals. 6. Be Active Daily Stay active at least six days a week. You can easily cycle cardio and weight training so it’s balanced and not overbearing. In addition to that, take the stairs when possible or park further out to get that little bit of extra movement and keep the heart and lungs working optimally. Studies show little movements such as tapping your toes while working also helps to burn calories. 7. Do Cardiovascular Exercise Cardio is heart and lung healthy. It also burns calories. Doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty can tap into fat stores and keeps the body burning calories at a high rate for about an hour after cardio is finished. If you fail to eat adequately daily, this can work against you. Doing morning cardio on very low calorie die can burn muscle. Another good time to incorporate cardio is in the evening, after your last meal. This allows you to burn calories so you are not sleeping on them. You do not have to implement a morning and evening session, choose one or the other or cycle between the two to prevent staleness and boredom. 8. HIIT It Blend some High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) into your cardiovascular program from time to time to give your body and metabolism a good shock. The body is programmed to adapt. Therefore, the same cardio day in and day out can become stale real fast. Take one or two days a week and implement some HIIT to give the body an added shock. 9. Weight Train Resistance training builds muscle, which is metabolically active tissue. The more muscle you acquire, the faster your metabolism. Muscle will put curves in the right places and allow you to eat more calories a day. 10. Listen to Your Body Killing yourself with workouts is just as dangerous as not working out at all. Listen to your body and get proper rest. Don’t train if you are ill or just simply too tired. Training in such a state can cause more problems than it solves. If any of the above fail to prove results in 4 to 6 weeks, there could be an underlying problem, such as a food allergy, acidic pH, sluggish thyroid, hormonal imbalance, etc. If so, I recommend searching a natural healer in your area to determine the cause and work from there. For the most part, proper diet and herbs can correct any ailments. Karen Sessions has been in the fitness industry since 1988. Garreth Westwood: What is Your Citizenship Strategy?

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

By Garreth Westwood Given the recent amendments to the Irish Nationality & Citizenship Act [INCA] which change the Irish Citizenship by Marriage facility, it makes sense to review your strategy to pass on your Irish citizenship to your children and ensure that your family inherits this priceless legacy. As readers of the DualCitizen.net Blog are aware, Irish citizens (or US citizens with an Irish-born parent) are no longer able to simply transmit Irish Citizenship by declaration after three years of marriage and cohabitation. This Post-Nuptial Declaration facility closed permanently on 30 November 2005 so that from this moment forward, any Irish citizen who wishes to transmit citizenship to his/her spouse, now has to cohabitate with the spouse within the Irish state. This change to INCA is all part of a trend of tightening rules brought about–perhaps–by European pressure on the Irish Government. Previously, the Republic of Ireland had very generous derivative citizenship laws. Because of very specific changes to INCA since 1986, Irish-Americans (and indeed, the Irish diaspora around the English-speaking world) need to develop a Citizenship Strategy. In 1986, the major change to INCA was that an applicant for Irish citizenship based upon a grandparent would no longer be considered an Irish citizen from birth but would only be deemed to become an Irish citizen at the moment the application was approved. Previously, those applicants with an Irish great-grandparent could first have their parent apply for Irish citizenship based upon their grandparent and then apply based upon their parent after that first application was approved. Now, those applicants with an Irish-born great-grandparent have no claim to Irish citizenship now. Furthermore, those applicants with an Irish grandparent are no longer considered Irish citizens until their application is approved by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs. That means, any individual with an Irish grandparent needs to take action now to apply for Irish citizenship before they have any children. If an applicant with an Irish grandparent wishes to pass on Irish citizenship to future generations, he/she must do so before having any children. Children born before the acquisition of Irish citizenship will not be able to inherit your Irish citizenship. You need to review your citizenship strategy. Choices on Infertility Drugs

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Low_Jeremy] Low Jeremy Infertility drugs are normally employed in conjunction with other infertility techniques when a couple or a person is diagnosed of infertility. Since infertility by nature is a complex condition, many methods are required before any possible diagnosis is created. Without the extensive and comprehensive procedures that delve into even the smallest details of the condition, diagnosis may be impossible. Thus the impossibility of creating a treatment program for the patients. If in case a woman is said to have problems associated with ovulation, it is likely that she would be prescribed of ovulation infertility drugs. The main underlying principle of which is for ovulation stimulation. The initial step may be marked with the use of clomiphene. If this doesn’t work, the patient may move to more advanced form of treatment like the use of HCG or human chorionic gonadotropin that is normally employed in combination with other infertility drugs. Clomiphene or Clomid while being more popular with female infertility treatment is also used as an effective prescription with male-associated infertility. Clomid is the pioneer in the industry. While its use may be traced for as far as some thirty years ago, no major complications are yet discovered that are closely connected with the use of the drug. In fact, cases of birth defects, complications in pregnancy and difficulty of labor are not evident when this infertility drug is used. Clomiphene is a prescription-only drug, which appears in tablet forms. HCG, on the other hand, is used only as injection under the strict guidance of a physician. Administration of Clomid will increase the presence of hormones responsible in ovulation. It affects the workings of the four major reproductive hormones namely follicle stimulating hormone or FSH, luteinizing hormone or LH, estradiol and gonadotropins. HCG is sold under brand names like Profasi, Gonic and Pregnyl. This works on both male and women infertility. For males, HCG increases the production of androgen while it helps release more estrogen in women. HCG is linked with weight loss though. However, there are still no evidences that will prove these assertions. Thus, the use of HCG in such programs is questionable. Other synthetically prepared hormones like Urofollotropins are used in inducing ovulation. Reminders:When under an infertility drug treatment, be sure to disclose all necessary details to your physician. These include information like medical history, other drugs presently used, details on known origin of infertility like childhood diseases and ailments and others. Open Source Marketing- What Is It And Why Do You Need It

Friday, October 12th, 2007

By John Utz Todays consumer is nothing like they were twenty years ago. They are much more skeptical, wealthy, better informed and in control. Yet, the advertising industry at large has not changed and is still using tactics similar to those used twenty years ago. This is leaving a huge disconnect between what consumers want and what they are getting. In either case I am sure you are wondering what this has to do with open source marketing Well let me tell you. Open source as a movement is designed to allow the majority to design and mold whatever they are interacting with. From software to encyclopedias open source is taking the world by storm. And mainstream consumers are falling for it. Open source marketing is therefore the process of allowing consumers to interact with the brand, marketing materials, product and service and change its direction. In the past it was war, bombarding the consumer and their senses with constant messages it was about commanding the market. Now consumers go out of their way to use technology to shelter themselves from old school brand bombardment. Tivo would be a great example. In addition, they are relying more on each other and on communities of like minded people brought together by the internet to make purchase decisions the rating and review system on amazon.com would be an excellent example. The bottom line is businesses both small and large had better begin building an open source plan and it incorporate it into their marketing plan, otherwise they may face extinction. Face it, consumers are no longer happy to sit back and be fed a brand and its values. They want access to the brand source and an invitation to co-create. And no matter what size your business, this is possible. If you are Joes pizza it could be as simple as inviting in some of your best customers to name and design the new pizza of the month, if you are a B2B service provider it could be allowing them to give their input on your services and then molding the service to their advice, if you are a large multinational corporation it could involve creating an online blog to allow consumer to talk about your latest product and make suggestions which are incorporated into the next production run. At very least, you had better start asking them what they want and take them seriously. Survey them and utilize the information you get to shape your marketing plan, message, product or service. You must create some type of feedback loop and begin listening to what your customers want because they are certainly willing to tell you. Further you had better put your ear to the ground and begin listening to rumors and whispers in the market, check out the latest blog postings on topics pertaining to your industry. It could be as simple as asking them to submit pictures to be used in the next advertising campaign. So my advice would be that if you dont know what open source marketing is you had better learn. Get ready Its coming. You had better be prepared and give consumers access to your marketing source code. Losing Weight Doesn’t Have To Be A Science

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

By Israel Ponce De Leon Welcome readers as many people know exercise and diet is essential for losing weight and have a healthy body. Sadly very few people are willing to go through it as some sacrifice is required. Obviously the first reaction when you tell people they have to eat what they dont want like carrots, broccoli, lettuce, and other stuff that honestly doesnt taste as good as pizza or hamburgers is to reject it and ignore its benefits. Depending onthe goal that wants to be achieved the dietary requirements may vary. For a person that simply wants to lose a couple of pounds the logical choice is to limit the transfat and saturated fats and processed foods. Of course achieving the right balance between carbs and proteins is vital to succeed in the diet. For example eating a good amount of rice with a small portion of meat like chicken and some vegetables is a good example of a good meal. A meal with little amount of fat is good however is not enough to lose weight. Exercise is the second element to lose weight. There are mainly 2 types of exercises :aerobic or cardio and strength exercises. Both are very important cardio exercises will strengthen the heart and cardiovascular system while strength exercises will help withthe overall muscles of the body. Giving equal amount of time to both types is an effective way to make sure they get the attention required. The rate at will you loseweight can be slow but it will happen and the best part is you dont have to starveyourself in order to lose weight and look the way you always wanted. Israel is person dedicated to the betterment of people by using exercises and teaching them healthy ways to eat. Have You Stopped Beating Your Customer?

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

By Michael Knowles Have you stopped beating your customer? It’s an old leading question from the days of vaudeville. The title of this article is a leading question, too. It’s prompted by a mistake many businesses make over and over again. A company creates a product it believes will sell, and spends hundreds…thousands…even millions producing and trying to sell it. Only no one buys it, and the company wonders why. The answer is simple: People buy only products and services they believe they need. You cannot sell a product or service that isn’t wanted. Yet companies persist in beating their potential customers to death with messages. Marketing people apply an arsenal of psychological weapons in an effort to arouse desire for their products. Often such weapons are used to prey upon people’s fears. In the world of moral capitalism that’s called manipulation. And strong companies don’t use manipulative marketing techniques because they don’t have to. When Businesses Believe They Must Manipulate to Drive SalesIt is a normal human reaction to want others to accept our products and services. We wouldn’t start businesses if we didn’t believe we could be successful in convincing people to become customers. Yet hundreds of business leaders continue to believe that people will buy a product or service simply because it exists. that by employing clever schemes and psychological ploys, they’ll sell products. And sometimes they’re right. Sometimes. Maybe there is a sucker born every minute. If that’s your take on humanity, best of luck. You won’t be doing yourself, your customers, and the rest of us business people any favors, but if you have that sort of attitude, then you don’t care what we think anyway. Yet…if what you want is a business to live for, you have to give people what they need and want. You must have a customer-validated product or service. You need a customer-validated vision for your business’ future. A Customer-Validated Vision for Your FutureA customer-validated vision is one that ensures a focus on delivering the absolute best product or service you can to people who want to do business with you. Getting to such a vision isn’t easy. It takes a willingness to devote yourself and your team to asking good questions and, more important, listening to the responses you get without filtering them through your needs or expectations. Consider the New Coke fiasco a number of years ago. The marketing group for Coca-Cola did, in fact, do focus groups on the company’s new drink formula. They asked questions, but questions for which they already had answers! You see, they “knew” the solution to their loss of market share to Pepsi was to create a “New” Coke, one that tasted more like Pepsi. To their chagrin, the New Coke was a disaster. Why? Because their customers didn’t want something that tasted like Pepsi. If that’s what they wanted, they would have bought Pepsi products! From Here ForwardAre you ready to attract and retain more customers? Then you need a customer-validated vision for your business. Get clear about where you are today, and devote yourself to identifying where you want to be for your customers. Ask your team the hard questions, questions such as: Are you willing to validate your corporate values in light of the needs of the customers you’re in business to serve? Are you willing to do the work required to understand how to focus what you do best on your customers’ success? And, if so, what do you need to do to get there? Are you willing to define your purpose and end goal in customer-validated language? What will you do to ensure that every stakeholder for your company speaks the same customer-validated language? It’s all about how you serve who you serve. Turn your business mind around and look to your customers if you want success. That’s where you’ll find the pot of gold at the end of your rainbow. Geographic Tongue: Benign Migratory Glossitis - What It Is And What It Is Not

Monday, October 8th, 2007

By Liam Snow The Geographic Tongue condition earned its name due to affected tongues looking like a aerial snapshot of a piece of land: grooves in the tongue, and irregular patches of rough and smooth areas. Medically, the condition is known as Benign Migratory Glossitis. “Benign” means that the condition is not going to develop into anything more serious. “Migratory” means that the tongue’s appearance changes over time, particularly with the rough and smooth patches ‘moving’. “Glossitis” means ‘inflammation of the tongue’. Geographic Tongue is a very common condition, and there is some indication that it’s prevalence is growing. It can be painful, but should not be confused with other conditions of the tongue which are generally more painful and would be treated in a different way. Geographic Tongue Remedy provides a support forum and recommends an excellent resource for treating Geographic Tongue naturally. Three other common tongue disorders that can be confused with Geographic Tongue are: Yeast Infection or Thrush. Usually there are raised white patches on the tongue, surrounded by red borders. This is a painful condition, often made worse by attempts to scrape off the white patches, which can result in bleeding. Thrush can be treated using anti-fungal drugs. Oral Lichen Planus. This condition is usually localised to the inner surface of the cheeks, but can affect the surface of the tongue too. Not much is known about this condition, but it is more painful than Geographic Tongue. Oral Lichen Planus can respond well to steriod medication. Glossopyrosis or Burning Tongue. The appearance of the tongue is generally unaffected but severe pain is experienced, expecially when the tongue comes into contact with spicy or hot food, citrus, or toothpaste. Post-menopausal women are most at risk of developing this condition. Potential causes include vitamin B, folic acid, or estrogen deficiences or yeast infection. To treat any of these conditions, firstly consult a throat doctor for a correct diagnosis. Geographic Tongue is usually best treated naturally, although topical steroids can be tried. The most successful approach is often to determine the root cause, which is commonly deficiences in vitamins and minerals, and in the efficiency of the digestive system.
