Matchmaking

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Kevin Stith While the phrase marriages are made in heaven is a commonly used one, in the real world waiting for divine intervention does seem a trifle unrealistic. A bit of human prodding, be it from family, friends, well-wishers or even a dating service, opens up wider possibilities for locating the ideal match. Over the centuries the need to find an ideal match for the young girls and boys of a community anywhere in the world was a task that the elders of the community, particularly the parents of these youngsters, gladly took on as a responsibility. In fact, in certain communities, parents pledged children still in their cradles to other infants, without any idea of what life had to offer to these little ones. In modern times Matchmaking has assumed a different dimension. While marriage is the preferred end to which this whole enterprise is geared, just getting two compatible human beings to get together is also a good enough reason to venture into this form of social service. Essentially, it is all about developing a social, romantic or even sexual relationship with the help of either a dating service, a blind date with the help of a friend, or even a random encounter at a singles bar or at a social club. The criteria for selecting a good match could be a combination of a variety of factors. An initial screening would be based on age, gender and location, and then would move on to more subjective criteria, like similar interests or hobbies. After the screening process, an exchange of photographs and then an upfront and personal meeting could well pave the way for what might turn out to be a lifelong relationship. And what started off as an engineered meeting (be it through friends or self-initiated) may become a match made in heaven! Matchmaking provides detailed information about matchmaking, christian matchmaking, international matchmaking, jewish matchmaking and more. Matchmaking is the sister site of Christian Singles Dating Services. Apologizing When We Hurt Our Friends or Partners

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Royane Real In every relationship there will be occasional misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Sometimes we are the one who hurt another person we care about; sometimes we are the one who has been hurt. Sometimes both people have become very angry at each other, or both feel hurt. Hurt feelings can be the result of a slip of the tongue, a misunderstanding, or a deed committed in bad judgment. Sometimes feelings are hurt deliberately in the heat of anger and regretted later. If we were the guilty party, we might regret what we said the instant we let the hurtful remark out of our mouths. We might want to apologize right away, but some of us find apologizing about anything extremely difficult, almost impossible. Sometimes the reason we dont apologize is because we are convinced that the other person totally deserved our angry outburst. Sometimes the reason we dont apologize is because we have absolutely no idea that we hurt the other person. And sometimes we apologize very profusely, but we dont really mean it. When you sincerely apologize to a friend, it means that you regret causing the other person emotional pain, and you want to work on repairing the friendship. If you have said or done something that hurt your friend or partner, it is important to acknowledge your loved ones painful emotions. You can say something like, Im so sorry you feel hurt because of what I said. I didnt mean to hurt you. Lets talk about what happened. In some relationships, hurt feelings and problems are never dealt with. Instead, they get swept under the rug. These relationships may look polite on the surface and they may even be long-lived, but they are not really very intimate. There is no deep sharing between the two people and there is no ability to be honest. If one, or both of you, are feeling very angry with the other, put off your in-depth discussion until both of you are to be calm and levelheaded. But apologize to your friend sincerely as soon as you can. Once an apology for a particular incident has been extended and accepted, dont go back and revisit old battles the next time you have a disagreement. Take care of each incident as it comes up and dont nurse old resentments. Weight Loss Tip - The Chopstick Method

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By John Davenport The weight loss process can be accelerated by several simple tips. One of them involves chopsticks, specifically, eating with them. Most people eat when they’re hungry or can even develop a huge hunger when food is placed before them. Eating when you’re hungry can be very bad for you. Why? Because when we’re hungry we tend to eat everything very quickly, devouring whatever is on our plate in no time. The problem is that it takes our body awhile to realize that it has been fed and to stop sending out hunger signals. Because we continue to feel hungry, we end up eating more than we should and pack on the extra pounds. Another thing that happens when we eat too much too quickly is that our body is stuffed and has difficulty to digest our food as efficiently as it should. More of our food goes undigested, we turn more calories into fat tissue and we even feel so tired that there’s no chance of any physical activity that evening. A cool way to avoid this problem is eating with chopsticks. First, cut your food into small pieces, then eat them with chopsticks. Unless you’re a chopstick expert, you’ll eat your food more slowly, you’ll finish your portion feeling that you had all that you need and won’t have any cravings left. You’ll digest your food better and have more energy for exercising. I know it can become a little frustrating, but give it a try. Eating slowly even makes the food taste better. Flowering Trees - How to Make Your Garden Shady and Beautiful at the Same Time

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Khieng Chho The most important components in a landscape are probably trees. Their prominent shape and size gives the necessary depth to any garden or lawn. Such a large and tall plant can be impossible to ignore in any scenery and they can add a sense of permanence with their remarkable longevity, making it possible for them to be enjoyed through generations. Additionally, trees attract life as they have the ability to support whole ecosystems being a possible home to birds, bees, butterflies, squirrels, small plants, and other creatures. Moreover, trees can also become aesthetic, flowering trees can add beauty and grace apart from a sense of strength and prominence. There are many kinds of flowering trees, each being valued for their distinct qualities. Here are some of the popular flowering trees in the landscaping scene: Dogwoods these are among the most popular and well-loved flowering trees that blossom in the spring. The soft white or pink flowers are indeed pleasing for to the eyes. Additionally, dogwoods also look good in the autumn as their leaves turn to a rich and bright red tinge. Having a dogwood in ones backyard can definitely light up ones surroundings for much of the year. Rose of Sharon while the rose of Sharon is technically a shrub, most people think that it is a tree because it can grow tall and be trimmed down to a single tree-like trunk. Its lilac-tinted flower is very attractive. The blooms come relatively late which makes it good to be planted with early blooming trees to enjoy flowers throughout the season. Cherry, Mulberry, and Crab Apple these flowering trees are generally grouped as weeping trees because of their teardrop-like buds. The elegant white to pastel pink flowers create a cozy ambience that is quite calming. These ornamental flowering trees add color and excitement to any panorama. Washington Hawthorn Flowering Trees this trees are very much valued because of the distinct time when they bloom. They usually flower from the latter portion of the spring to the early part of summer which makes them ideal in the transition period between the two periods, when most spring trees have shed they blooms and most summer trees have just started budding. Magnolias these are sometimes called saucers obviously for their big flowers that are very noticeable to anyone nearby. This type of flowering tree makes a big impression on anyone who beholds its beauty. Crape Myrtles this tree is considered as the queen of the flowering trees in the south as it is a very popular choice for Southerners. They bloom for long periods starting from the middle of summer to autumn. The flowers bloom in clusters that can be white, red, pink or lilac, which are attached to the tips of new wood. In temperate regions, these flowering trees can die in the winter, but come back in springtime. Harry Lauders walking stick this unique tree with an odd name is indeed a distinct flowering tree as it becomes beautiful only when it sheds its leaves. This is also technically a shrub that looks at a tree because it can go over four feet high. Harry Lauders walking street is ideal for those who have winter planting in mind. There are several other kinds of flowering trees and each could add beauty as well as strength to any landscape. Planting trees can be such a worthwhile endeavor to beautify any piece of land. Selecting Outdoor Benches

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Jennifer Akre Outdoor benches are an excellent way to enhance a garden, create additional seating in a backyard or add a resting spot for a business. With outdoor benches, you will discover a huge selection of materials such as stone, wood, concrete, brick, etc. Keep in mind that one type of material is not necessarily better than another with a few exceptions. As an example, if you choose something like granite, marble, stone, or concrete, the seats will be hard so if you are looking to provide a comfortable resting area, cushions would be required. In addition, some types of wood do better than others. Teak, redwood, beech, birch, cherry, ash, maple, oak, mahogany, poplar, walnut, pecan, and cedar are excellent choices for outdoors. Since wood outdoor benches are the most popular, we will address those in particular for this article. First, wood is easy to work with, offers a warm, rich, and inviting appearance, and is very durable. Depending on the design of the outdoor bench, it may or may not be made with a combination of solid wood and veneer. Regardless of the type of wood being used, the quality of construction for the outdoor bench is crucial. First, the outdoor bench needs to be made using the best joint method and second, the outdoor bench must be stable and sturdy. For the joints, manufacturers use a number of methods. The tongue and groove method is very popular in that it looks nice and neat while providing the needed stability. Another method is known as mortise and tenon, which involves a socket and two pieces of projecting wood. Other options for the joints include a doweled joint where a wood pin fits tightly into a drilled out hole, rabbeted and butted joint that has two pieces of wood placed at angles, glued, and stapled, bolted or corner blocked if rigidity is a concern, and finally, the least expensive method for outdoor bench joints is with stapling. The downside to this is that as people sit down and get up from the outdoor bench, the staples can eventually work free. The second factor for selecting wooden outdoor benches is the stability and sturdiness. Since people of all sizes will be sitting down, you obviously want a bench that will accommodate various weights. To ensure sturdiness, you would need to make sure the bench meets certain criteria. If the bench has a back, then the outside posts or rungs on either side will need to go all the way through the bench seat to the underside, making the posts and rungs less likely to break. In addition, the legs of the outdoor bench need to be solid and large enough to handle weight. One way to tell if the bench is not sturdy enough is to sit on it. If you hear a creaking noise, then you should be concerned. While sitting, move your weight back and forth a little to see if the bench feels secure or wobbly. You can also do a push/pull test with your hands, pressing on the benchs legs to see if they feel solid or loose. Most manufacturers will provide specifications on the various types of outdoor benches so you will know exactly the weight limitations, type of wood used, the joint process, and so on. Use this information to your advantage when selecting an outdoor bench so you end up with the type that best suits your needs. Facial Skin Care

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Edward Group Because of the exposure it receives, the skin on your face is the most delicate skin on your body. Your facial skin needs special care to stay young, healthy, and beautiful. 1. Clean Your Face Gently Toothpaste can be very irritating to the skin around the mouth. So brush your teeth before cleansing your face to remove any toothpaste residue that may be left on your lips and cheeks (You should use a natural toothpaste free from toxic Flouride- Jasons brand works well. Next, splash your face with lukewarm water and smooth about a quarter-size amount of a mild, natural cleanser over your face. You may use a washcloth or facial cloth if you wish, but fingertips are gentler on the skin. Use circular strokes to lightly massage the cleanser into your skin. Rinse the soap from your face with lukewarm water, and blot your skin dry with a clean, soft towel. 2. Use Toner Sparingly Skin toning products often contain drying products, such as alcohol or acetone, that can be irritating to sensitive skin. Avoid using a skin toner if your skin has become dry and delicate over the years. However, a natural skin toner like the product Oxy-Skin will bind water to the skin and provide extra cleansing and moisture. This product would be useful for someone with dry or oily skin. Use skin toner on freshly cleansed skin. Apply toner to a cotton tissue rather than a cotton ball as a tissue is less absorbent and you will end up using less toner on your face. Gently smooth the tissue over your face and allow the toner to dry. 3. Apply Eye Cream The skin under your eyes is more delicate and sensitive than the skin on the rest of your face. It is the first part of your face to show signs of aging. An natural eye cream or serum can help to protect this fragile skin, even out skin tone, minimize dark under eye circles, and even temporarily tighten fine lines. Use a pea-sized amount of eye cream (Parfait Visage) and apply to your skin with your middle finger. This finger will apply less pressure than your index finger. In a clockwise motion, smooth the cream from the center of the undereye area to the browbone and over your lids. 4. Moisturize Liberally A good moisturizer is one of the foundations of an effective skin care routine. Use a moisturizer right after bathing to seal moisture into your skin. A moisturizing product that is not made especially for the face may be too heavy and it may leave the face looking and feeling greasy. Creams and lotions usually are the facial moisturizers of choice for a couple of reasons, as they contain some water and are lighter on the face. And many creams and lotions are humectants, an oil-free class of moisturizer that binds water to the skin so its effects are longer lasting. Massage a nickel-size amount of facial moisturizer between your fingertips and then smooth over the skin on your face and neck using upward and outward strokes. Pulling down on your skin will aggravate the effects of gravity. 5. Protect Your Face The best way to prevent unnecessary sun damage is to protect your skin from exposure to the sun. Excess sun exposure can cause damage to your skin in the form of freckles, roughness, age spots, wrinkles, and cancer. Skin cells can repair themselves to a certain degree even after they have been overexposed to ultraviolet light, as long as further exposure is avoided. So it is worth taking the precautions to protect your skin from sun at any age. Ultraviolet rays barrage your face even when you least expect it: in the car, at the bus stop, and even walking in and out of the house. Use a natural sunscreen product everyday, even if you don’t plan on spending a lot of time outdoors. Facial Skin Care Tips Don’t wait until bedtime to remove dirt, makeup, dust and pollutants from the face. If you’re in for the night, wash your face as soon as you get home for the day and apply eye cream and moisturizers. Avoid soda, coffee and other caffienated beverages. These drinks dehydrate your body and rob moisture from the skin. Instead, make sure you drink plenty of purified water throughout the day. Water helps to plump your skin with moisture and it improves circulation. Try to drink enough water that you are never actually thirsty. I recommend a Wellness Water purification system. Use sunscreen everyday, not just when you are headed to the beach. Its never too late to start protecting your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Wearing a sunscreen with at least SPF 15 everyday can protect your skin from premature aging, wrinkling, and age spots. To learn more visit http://www.skin-care-support.org. Marketing Training - Things to Look for in a Training Program

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Kelly Smith One thing I have learned in network marketing is when you have training in one specific company you may be doomed when applying it to the next. Why is generic training in the marketing industry so important? Compensation plans are different, products and services can be different even the way the company does presentations can be different. Let me give you an example of what can happen to peoples mindset when they have gone through company-oriented training. When we were involved in a company that dealt in long distance plans, it went under many people even the ones making good money, quit. Just quit. Heres why they didnt have training they could apply to any company or business that taught them about mindset, being a leader or how to develop a solid team. When you have generic training, you literally have the ability even if you lost all your money (bankruptcy for example) to start all over again, no fear. Do you think Donald Trump or Robert Kiyosoki would have a problem, if someone took all of their money to start from scratch? They have the knowledge. Just remember, yes knowledge is power, but only if you act on it and take massive action. Here are some key things to look for in a generic training program: Talking to People/Leads on The Phone Learn how to talk to leads on the phone and within minutes get them to evaluate your business. A trainer/mentor should be able to show you how to close people to evaluate your program within 45 seconds. The introductory conversation should only be about 2 - 3 minutes in length. Leads Learning how to generate leads can ultimately save you money and bring you people who are truly interested in your business. They will also have previewed it before you even spoke to them. Lets face it, it takes work to generate your own leads and setting it up. If you truly want to generate your own leads it isnt a magic pill. Bringing people to your website is a process, so start calling leads while setting up your lead generations system. Mindset You hear it all the time in those company trainings, stay positive, have energy when you talk to people and have the right mindset. Heres the Truth. Without the right MINDSET, nothing will work. Did you know you can literally reprogram your subconscious and unconscious areas of the mind to train your beliefs for success and failure? With the right information, it can be done. Its not just about positive or motivational thinking. Do they teach you how to tap into the right mindset? This should be the heart of the training but it usually isnt. Conference Calls/Presentations Doing your own presentations over the phone or online can be so powerful and save you time. Why would you want to spend 20 to 30 minutes of your time talking to every prospect when you can talk to many prospects for 20 to 30 minutes once or twice? Did you know ultimately the person who makes the big money is the one doing the conference calls and presentations? This is an extremely powerful skill to learn. Teach others Be a leader. Also not in the typical company training manual, they just teach you duplication, but not really how to teach others. Why dont they teach you how to become a leader? Because they need followers, especially ones who cant be self-sufficient. Be a Leader When you are a leader, you are constantly in control of your own destiny, personally and financially. You will have true partnerships instead of depending on your upline. Learn how to cut the apron strings and be on your own. Quit the blame game because it is your business and your responsibility. Leaders are accountable. Become a role model. Conclusion There are so many get rich Automated Programs but its hard to know what really works. I stick to real people who have made money and can mentor me or answer my questions if needed. There are some very successful marketers so look for ones who will be accessible and be leery of programs that will supposedly bring in droves of customers, business partners and clients and you dont have any real contact with the marketers who started the program in the first place. Also, many of these programs will teach people to spam others to get into their business. That should be a red flag. Kelly and Brad Smith are the founders of BKS Marketing & Income Strategies. Celebrities and Plastic Surgery

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Kadence Buchanan A lot of people are tempted to undergo plastic surgery but are afraid of what it could do to them if things go wrong. Perhaps taking a good look at the celebrities who have failed at their attempts at plastic surgery can show these people that they should be very afraid indeed. Here’s a short list of celebrities who have undergone horrible plastic suregry, based on various published reports in publications and on the internet. 1. Michael JacksonYes, he tops the list of worst plastic surgery cases. Following a series of surgical procedures, Jackson probably now ranks as one of the scariest celebrities on the planet. He used to be a cute black child but now he resembles a pale ghost. You don’t have to say a lot about Jackson and this topic because practically everyone has seen the dire results. 2. Melanie GriffithShe was once a stunning and fresh-faced beauty, particularly during the eighties, but now that she has put too much collagen on her face, her skins looks much too tight as if she’s always tense. Why, some people say she can’t even smile anymore. The best she can do is grimace. Of course, there are whispers that drugs have something to do with it as well. 3. Farrah FawcettAnother former knockout whose looks have taken a turn for the worse after plastic surgery is Farrah Fawcett. She was once the queen of the hit series Charlie’s Angels and one of the most popular poster girls in the world. Today, after a series of nips and tucks and many more, her face looks deformed, with a nose that is lopsided and eyes that are way too tilted at the ends. 4. Lil KimBlack musician Lil Kim seems to be following the footsteps of Michael Jackson. She’s tried to be a little whiter and she’s altered her eyes, nose and lips. She once looked soulful and sultry. Now she looks like a gremlin. 5. Kylie MinogueKylie used to ooze sex appeal. Now, after too many botox treatments, her face looks as tight as a drum. Sure, you don’t see any wrinkles on her forehead at all, but her face looks too stiff and unnatural. Top 10 Mistakes Made by Virginia Workers Compensation Claimants

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Gerald G. Lutkenhaus I have compiled a list of mistakes that claimants make in Virginia Workers Compensation Cases. These are the ones people should avoid. 1. The mistake that can easily get your claim denied is to fail to report your accident promptly to your employer when you are injured. Also, you must report a “specific incident” and not just my back is hurting. Many employers have a policy that an accident should be reported immediately after it happens. If you don’t report, you run the risk the employer will say it never happened. 2. The next mistake is to fail to give your doctor a clear history regarding how the accident happened. If the doctor’s report does not contain a clear history, then the insurance company may well conclude the accident did not cause your problem. 3. A failure to obtain medical treatment immediately is an all too common mistake. If you don’t go to the doctor, why should anyone think you have a problem. 4. The insurance company will call you soon after the accident to take a recorded statement. The purpose of the statement is to lock in your testimony so it cannot be changed at a later date. Thus, it is advisable to contact an experienced workers compensation attorney before giving this statement. 5. A failure to list “all injuries” incurred in the accident on the insurance company agreement forms or on the claim for benefits can be a problem. This is especially true for example if one lists the injury as an “arm injury” when it really is a “neck injury.” The Virginia Workers Compensation Commission has held in the past that an “arm injury” does not include a “neck injury.” 6. Representing yourself at a Workers Compensation Hearing. Some people represent themselves over a dispute regarding their claim. This can be a fatal error since the insurance company will be represented by an attorney. Once you do the hearing the record is closed and you cannot add “new evidence” later. 7. A failure to cooperate with vocational placement after you are released to light duty work. This can be grounds for termination of your compensation. 8. A failure to go to medical appointments. This can be grounds for termination of your compensation. 9. Settling your case on your own. If you surrender a claim for 500 weeks of possible benefits and lifetime medical care for your injury, you should know the settlement is all you will ever receive for your injury and depending on your situation, it may not be the wise thing to do. 10. Failure to consult with an experienced Workers’ Compensation Attorney. Attorneys specialize so it may not be enough to consult with just “an attorney” it is best to consult with a specialist in workers compensation law. Marketing - A Handy Formula That Will Make You A Hero

Friday, March 14th, 2008

By Siriol Jameson Here is one marketing formula that will stand by you and makeyou a hero. It consists of only three parts: 1) Say what you are going to tell them 2) Tell them 3) Go back over what you told them If this seems simple, it is. It will save you hours of slavingover a speech. It can make it a joy to write a sales letter. Useit to help you write your books and reports. You may findyourself dashing off articles faster than ever using this 3-stepformula. Here is how it goes: 1) Say What You are Going to Tell Them Lets say you are called upon to give a talk to prospective customers. Start out right away by letting them what you are going to tell them. Make it as short as possible. Next, it is important to set the tone. The key here is to talk about only one topic. It could be one benefit they will get from using your product. Weave a story around that benefit. 2) Tell Them This step is where you get to the meat of the topic. Number the points you are making. In this case, let me number the points I usually make to help keep my message on track. a. Keep your message urgent. You cannot wait to tell peopleabout how they can benefit from this product. b. Use the active voice. It is much more direct to say, He did it, rather than,It was done by him. c. Focus on results. Will the customer be better looking, richer or have more fun if she uses the product? d. Continue weaving in parts of the story you beganin Step 1. e. Keep a positive tone. Try to avoid negatives suchas dont, cant, fail, or fall through. 3) Go Back Over What You Told Them It is always reassuring to hear or read something again. It confirms in your listeners mind that they remember correctly. They actually did hear you say that. Also, peoples attention span is short. Thoughts wander. You can repeat the points you made in Step 2 in an entertaining way to avoid sounding repetitive. Well, thats about it. Remember, talking to prospectivecustomers is magical. Your words alone can make them want your product more than anything else in the world. And once you are marketing this well, you will be a hero in everyone’s eyes.
